Rachel Jefferies - Pocket Art Signature Kit No. 8
Creativity. Memories. Family.
When I began creating cards 17 years ago, I never dreamed that it would turn into a passion for scrapbooking! Within a year of learning stamping, I found myself haunting scrapbook stores – remember them? – and joining online scrapbook sites. I spent hours leafing through scrap magazines, looking at galleries and taking photos of my family.
I love to create! And my family is my creative inspiration. I find that there is something cathartic about creating a scrapbook page. I love taking a photo of someone I love or an event I have experienced, and turning it into something artistic, playing with design and color, and creating a feeling about the photo. And it does not work with stock photos! I need to feel something, have a connection to the memory or person, and then I can turn that feeling into a creative expression of that memory.
Texture, paint, color, words, design – putting them all together to enhance a memory makes me happy. When I created with paper, I would relish in the textures and colors, even the feel of the papers. Now that it is digital, I enjoy the technical process of blending papers, photos and creating something different out of the products.
And the creative process never ends! I often find myself looking at a layout I did in years past and suddenly find new inspiration for that photo.
I am a creature of creation. My chosen work is singing which is creative. It is not a surprise that my hobbies are creative as well. As long as I breathe, I will create. It is my passion. January 2, 2021
Loved reading your journaling. I can relate to the need to use actual photos rather than stock photos. Love the mix of photos you chose for your layout and the way you blocked the journaling. Great page! Thanks for playing along with my challenge!
Wow! I love how photo-dominant this page is, how fun your photos are and how you have broken your journaling into section, even displaying parts on cards for added visual interest.
