Journaling: "Santa – saint, llana – flat, mar- sea. Santillana del Mar, despite its name, is, and has, none of these. The town is believed to not have its own saint, is on some fairly hilly land and is pretty far from the coast. Therefore, it’s no wonder the small town has gained the nickname of being the town of three lies. However, there are some who believe its name actually derives from Santa Juliana, whose remains can be found in the Colegiata, a building which used to be a church and a monastery. It was once described as the most beautiful town in Spain by Jean-Paul Sartre. Walking along the cobbled streets of this Medieval town that once was the capital of Asturias, we totally got it. so beautiful!"
