For as long as I can remember, my mom has been terrified of pigeons. It makes it interesting whenever we need to cross a big square, because she passed this fear on to me somewhat (albeit mildly). The reason for her fear goes back to her childhood. One day her parents brought her to Piazza Duomo to take pictures of her with the pigeons. I think she must have been only 5 or 6 years old. They got a package of bird feed, poured it in her hand, and waited for the pigeons to come and feast. The pigeons surrounded her and I surely cannot blame her for hating pigeons after that!
I wish we had a photo of that very moment though - it would be fun to see if she was able to keep a smile on for the photo or if her expression was one of pure terror!
oh Cristina, I love this photo of your mother as a child.. what a beautiful heritage page. Your title work is terrific too. Oh I can just imagine a 5 or 6 year old being attacked for food by the pigeons.. no wonder she was scared.. I bet she didn't or doesn't like to watch Alfred Hitchcock's the Birds movie either... scary for sure for all of us really! Love the way you scrapped this. I love the photo of your Mom. (BTW I see you have your Mom's eyes and face beautiful)
lovely story - I'm sure this will be treasured for generations! A+++++ title work. Well done! Love those photos too. Thanks for taking the heritage challenge!!
