Journalling 280 Words
I loved computers and taking classes, but how could I use this. Then I started making calendars. I began in 2009. After a few years I decided to use these designs I had made each month to make greeting cards and envelopes. I have 6 friends that I send a card to every month. I hope it gives them a smile.

I don’t make art, I don’t have a style. It had to be something functional. I wanted a real project not just practice sessions for new techniques.

Scrapping brings out the hunter-gatherer in me. I can go “gathering” any time of the day or night. Then there is the organizing. Trying to sort and tag things so that I can retrieve them when I want them. Sometimes I go through my folders just to rediscover and marvel. And that often sparks a new idea.

That’s more about what I do. But why do I do it? I scrap because it’s a way to be creative. Selfishly I do it because I want somebody to say “Good Job!” I’m still that little kid saying “Look what I did!” I scrap because it allows me to use someone else’s creations. I couldn’t draw all the things I want to put on a page but I can pick just the element I want and change it to fit my purpose. I can use just part of it or change the color of it or manipulate it in so many ways. I can be playful and weird because someone else has already created something and if they thought it was good then it makes it good for me too. It legitimizes my crazy (dumb)ideas.

I didn’t put any copies of my calendars here because then I would have had to list all their credits and that is my least favorite part of scrapping.
I like how you blocked your journaling into different topics. And love that imagery of "hunter-gatherer". I gather up scrap supplies too! Great page! Thanks for playing along with my challenge!

Collage fan here! Thus I am totally lovin' the collage vibe of your layout...all those bits of paper make me so HAPPY!
