It’s hard to believe that Jonah is five years old. I feel like it was just yesterday that he was born. Back then, he was a tiny little peanut, weighing a mere 5 pounds and 4 ounces. Now, he’s a healthy 40 pound five year old with a huge vocabulary and a tender heart. There’s an old adage, “the days are long and the years are short,” and I’ve always thought it perfectly describes life as a mom. The first year was hard. Sleepless nights, issues with nursing and a baby that wouldn’t nap unless I was holding him. Fast forward five years and he is so much more independent and needing us less and less. So, I’m holding on to every cuddle, every hug, every “I love you, Mama,” because I know that in a blink of an eye, he will be a teenager and less likely to want cuddles with me. I feel so very privileged to be his mom and I cherish all the memories we’ve made together.
