Dear future me,
First, the important things: “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8 and “For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Galatians 5:14. If you are living these principles, then I know you are doing okay. I hope that you have handed over your theatre department to a young enthusiastic teacher and that you have trained him or her to maintain the safe space for all students that you have created. I hope that your students still feel loved by you beyond graduation and that you have continued to cultivate and grow those special post graduate relationships that have developed over the years. I hope that you are possibly a grandmother by now as you retire. I hope that you remember to let Matthew and Sydney raise their child and stay out of it. I hope that you remain joyful and positive and avoid being critical. I hope that you and Kirk are planning great travels and perhaps finalizing the dream to have a home in Florida near your happy place. I hope that you are healthy and strong and able to enjoy your retirement life. I hope that you are still serving the Lord in many ways, and I especially hope that you have continued your ministry in Standing Rock and still go there each year – maybe even leading the team! May God continue to bless you and keep you and those you love.
