Dear Future Jamie,
It seems like the world had gone mad or crazy, especially if you watch the news and social media. It is the beginning of 2023 and the last few years have been rough globally. It started with Covid 19. That strain of the Corona Virus spread throughout the globe. Every country was affected by it. There has been political tension that just seems to get worse with every election. There has been a rise on social movements happening like Black Lives Matter, Stop Asian Hate, LGBTQ rights, just to name a few examples. The Supreme court overturned Roe Vs. Wade in 2022. That cause a lot of protests throughout the country. These events have become very divisive to our country. Media would have you believe that there is so much hate and animosity towards each other, but it is not like that when I am out and interacting with other people. I think there is a lot more kindness than what is shown. The cost of living has gone up. There were shortages on everything due to the world shutting down in 2020 and we still have not quite recovered from that. Gas prices, grocery prices, clothing, housing, everything has gone up. So far, we have been lucky, we are still making ends meet and still able to get the kids a few extras things they want. Thanksgiving and Christmas has cost a little bit more, but not too much than normal. I have been looking at Grocery ads every week to see which store has the best prices for the item we primarily buy. I different store apps on my phone to get the discount/ digital coupons that stores offer. This has helped very much. I am hoping we see prices on everything start dropping back down. I am not sure if this will happen and when it will happen. Jeremy’s job has not been affected too much by it. His job became a work from home situation in 2020. He is finally going into the office 2 days a week, but that only started a few months ago. Donovan has adjusted to middle school very well. We were not sure about how smooth the transition would be. Emma is in her Senior year and is happy with the courses she is taking and she is excited about the short animation that her K9 Studios crew are working on. I do worry about her future, because she is not very mature, and she has ADD. She does not mentally function like other people. Her brain works so differently. We have her signed up for community college next school year, so we will see how that goes. I am hoping and wishing that she will be noticed by a studio due to the animation she is working on right now. That would be the best thing for her, an internship for a studio, or even being pick up to work at the studio. I am not sure that what the probability it of that happening, but it is possible, maybe. We are finally able to go on our trip that we have been planning for years now. We have saved up for this trip for a very long time. We were supposed to go to Walt Disney World in the Spring of 2020, but once again, Covid affected that. We are excited about going on this vacation and we are even counting down the days. I have hope that there are good things to come.
