This is one of my favorite photos of Harry. It captures the innocence of his youth. You can’t see it in this layout, but he’s holding a purple flower, which he kept smelling.
The playset in the background would be dismantled a few years after this. With the lumber from the set, Jim made me a very special Christmas gift (my Union Jack inlaid box) and a cast iron bookend with my initial “M.” Both are treasured gifts because of the significance of the materials from which they were made, and also because of the time, love & craftsmanship he put into them.
