journaling:
The “parlor” lamp that is always on . . . It was purchased by Grandma Caskey with S&H Green Stamps in the late 1950’s. She wanted something pretty sitting in the entryway, and so this lamp has been one of the first things that I saw every time I walked through her front door - from her cozy house in Kansas to her room at the nursing home in Pennsylvania. The lamp has welcomed family and guests in four different homes. It now sits in the foyer of my parents’ house. During the day, the light in the top half shines bright, and when it is bedtime, my mom switches it to the bottom light, which is a dimmer light reminiscent of a nightlight. In the truest sense, she will always leave the light on.
Bethany, this is wonderful! How fun re the S&H green stamps..What a gorgeous lamp! I love the style of it, and how great that all these years later (over 70!!!) that it still works and now it resides with your parents, just as it did with your Grandma.. the light in the foyer welcoming guests. How sweet and wonderful this is! I loved reading your journaling Bethany, the family heirloom is gorgeous and love the "leave the light on" just like Motel 6 ;) The peach bg paper and gorgeous clustering of flowers matches the beautiful floral decoration on the sweet hurricane parlor lamp. Your story is wonderful and you scrapped this beautifully! Thank you for sharing and playing along with my MOC11 day 7 Heirloom challenge. Well done!

(PS: I remember helping my mom put those S&H green stamps into the bookshe would get the stamps when she went to the grocery, and based on how much was spent you got the stamps. It always took a while to get enough pasted in the book to get something good like your Grandma's Parlor Lamp...My Mom had gotten a Sunbeam Stand Mixture with hers that I had for many years.. when my Dad passed away, I replaced it with his Kitchen Aid Mixer, but I will forever remember the S&H green stamps!!! Thanks for that memory from reading your journaling!)
