2010 - Visiting Japan as two adults. 2018 - Visiting Japan as two adults with a 5 year old. Two different experiences, but two totally amazing trips!
Brian and I went to Japan in 2010, after watching The Amazing Race and because there was a Disney there (hee hee). We loved every thing about our trip. The country, the sights, the people, the food! We loved it. We said we would come back. However, we were not sure when that would be. After having Nolan, we always talked about one day taking Nolan (when he was older, of course).
This year, 2018, was milestone year for us. Brian and I turned 40, Nolan turned 5 and we were celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary. We wanted to do something special. Somehow, we decided to go to Japan. It was a big decision and I did not think we would do it. I am not the kind of person that decides to take a 5 year old half way across the world. But why not? Nolan is 5, he is not a baby anymore. I knew I wanted to go, but I had many reservations. I didn't expect that we would actually do this. Mainly Nolan being little. How would he handle a different time zone, the food, the different culture, and so on. So many concerns. But Brian reassured me and reassured me over again. And I am so glad we did it! It was such an amazing experience for Nolan and us. It is a trip I will never forget. It had it trials and tribulations (travelling with a kid is not easy), but I would do it all over again.
We revisited many places we has already seen on our first trip. We wanted Nolan to see what we had seen. We also did many new things, that we experienced as a family. We even recreated some photos we took on our first trip, but this time with Nolan in them - a sort of then and now. We loved Japan then and we love Japan now. We all really want to go back! There is so much left unseen and so much left to experience.
I love that you took some similar photos but with Nolan too this time! That sounds awesome! Love the cherry blossom in the background to represent China.
