"I had rats as pets when a child but had no experience with guinea pigs except for bringing the kindy piggie home one weekend. Then in 2019 Sonia decided to move in for a few months and she came with 2 darling boys - Pierre and Dweezil. I fell in love instantly and then when she moved to Melbourne, I looked after the pigpies until she found a place to live. Taking them to the airport in Brisbane, I cried saying goodbye to the boys.
We had a cage and I started thinking about adopting some rescue pigs for myself. I thought about it for a couple of motnths and then went out to the Lair to purchase two adorable long haired girls which I named Ruby and Marigold. They were quickly joined by Evie whose partner had died but was part of the resuce of my two. Then Sonia had to move and was unable to find a house with a large enough room for her boys. They flew back to me and we now had 2 cages. I then decided the cages were too small so we now have piggie palaces with beds aplenty.
Late last year my darling Marigold died while undergoing surgery and I cried for two days. Ruby was also pining for her mate so we adopted a little girl who had lived in filth. Welcome Sylvia.
My love for guinea pigs gives me so much joy. It is hard to be angry or sad when cuddling a piggie. This story is continuing and there may be new additions to our group. Just don’t let my husband know."
