- Yachats is pronounced /yah-hots/, despite Siri's best efforts. It's where I live--about 700 residents, smack-dab in the center of the Oregon Coast (Pacific NorthWest in the US). While the village is actually located right on the coast, there's a road following the river, dotted with farms in the floodplains. Every August certain farms open their doors to sell directly to the public--anything from sides of beef to cacti. It's one of my favorite events of the year!
