According to family lore, great Grandma
Metha was a force to be reckoned with .
She married a widower who already
had 6 children,when she was only young.
She bore him another 6, and though by the
time she had her last, the first 3 had left
home, she raised them all, with an iron
will, but a kind heart. She stood for no
nonsense ,and each child had chores and
obligations,at the same time, she made sure
they attended school,and if possible learned
a trade. All left home by the time the war came.
Her husband was the kindest of men
a gardener, and up until the war worked among
other places on a big estate, However when Denmark
got occupied it got taken over by the German Army,
so they became homeless.
They moved in to the Attic ,at my Grandmas house
that got turned into a flat for them, my mum
used to tell stories, of learning to Crochet, and
having her hair brushed,until her scalp was red.
But she was loved,was Metha !
