As kids she was the big sister I never had, she was my best friend, back then we didn’t have internet so we were pen palls then every school holiday we would spend together at Grannys. The rest of the cousins were boys so we tended to stick together. We would stay up late reading Nancy Drew and swapping books. Carin was always drawing and I would try but she was always better than me. Being two years older I always looked up to her, I always wanted to do what she could do. This photo is from the summer we spent in Boath. Our family had rented a large house, we went hiking every day and had radox baths every night. It was always porridge for breakfast to keep us going for the day. Being the only two girls we got quite a big room to share, whereas the boys were all in the other bedroom. We each had a styrofoam cup of opal fruits beside our beds, and we made it last the week. Steven being a bit older was able to stay up longer with the adults and hear the ghost stories, he would then come through to our room and try and scare us with the stories … sometimes it would work. We got to go out adventuring every day where my granny was born, we would try and catch oysters in the river to get pearls. This summer is the summer every kid should have, good fun outside, no TV and surrounded by family and love.
Actually the summer sounds like it could have come from a passage in the Nancy Drew book! Nice paper stacking and such cuties. Thanks for taking the heritage challenge!!
