Journaling says: President Trump announced a state of national emergency on March 13,2020 due to WHO's declaration of the pandemic of the Coronavirus, aka COVID-19. Americans were initially warned to wash hands for 20 seconds (or use hand sanitizer if you can't wash), don't touch your face, stay home if you are sick, limit gatherings to 10 people or less, maintain distance of 6 feet if you have to be out. At our local grocery stores, we found empty shelves on the paper product aisles, empty meat and dairy coolers, and limited frozen vegetables and canned items. It was by far the most unnerving experience during the COVID pandemic for me (I left the grocery store in tears). On March 30 at 5 p.m., Gov. Doug Ducey announced the stay at home order for Arizona "Stay home, stay healthy and stay connected".

AND Danelle was exposed to an individual who had a positive COVID case in her household, so we decided to self-quarantine on March 25th (5 days before Arizona was in it's stay-at-home status). Chip had been working from home on March 23rd since his boss was out of the country. Jed's employer directed him to stay home for a 14 day quarantine period once they found out that someone in his household was exposed. These were some of the unusual sights we saw during the stay at home period. 1) The line at Costco on one of Chip's trips there. He had to wait about 10-15 minutes before he was able to go in due to a reduction in guests allowed inside at one time. 2) Traffic was nearly non-existent (and gas prices when down to under $2.00/gallon). 3) Because we quarantined ourselves, we utilized grocery delivery service for 3 weeks. We discovered that it was a nice treat, but too expensive to continue. However, after 2 months since quarantining ourselves, we have continued with grocery pick-up so we are not going into the grocery stores. 4) Empty paper aisle at Frys. 5) During our Stay-at-Home period, our water heater was not functioning. The repairman discovered that there was a fire within the water heater in the insulation! So relieved we called that repair in quickly! 6) LOTS and LOTS of baking in the kitchen. I made bread, cookies, scones, lemon curd, muffins and strawberry jam!
