Make a Little Birdhouse in Your Soul

Part of Jesse’s bedtime song repertoire was(is) “Birdhouse in Your Soul” by They Might Be Giants. A song about a blue canary nightlight that is your only friend,
but not your friend. Naomi’s 12th birthday was on a Thursday which is Girl Guides
And, it just happened to be the Thursday night that the Guides were making their birdhouses. After an early (and very delicious) dinner at OCCO, we all went to Guides to help build the birdhouses. The Guiders had precut most of the pieces, but the girls got to use a handsaw & a drill. The birdhouses are huge and too heavy to hang on any of our trees (found out the hard way). The plan is to hang them on the tall poplars in the neighbours yard next year and see who moves in. Although, I doubt we will be lucky enough to get any blue canaries.
