Description
I had the privilege of getting to know the hugely talented @Armygrl Lisa a little better for the Interview Challenge. (MOC 2021 Day 23.) We both joined The Lilypad in 2012. Lisa is the newest Polly here at The Pad, and she describes her style as eclectic. I loved looking through Lisa’s gallery, and learning more about her through her art and the interview questions. Her gallery is amazing, and definitely worth a visit! Between Lisa and I, we managed a combined 849 words! Since we were both very chatty, I decided to spread my layout over two pages. Thank you, Lisa, for your inspiration and help with this challenge.

This is page contains my (JenEm) interview response:

Tell us a bit about yourself, your name, username, and what year you joined The Lily Pad.

Jen – user name JenEm. I joined The Lilypad in March 2012.

What was going on in 2012 in your life and in your scrapbooking pages?

In 2012 I was dealing with the prospect of my son heading to High School in the fall. As a parent, I was starting to navigate the teen years and, most importantly, I was learning to let go. Most of my pages featured my son as a boy. I discovered that getting teens to pose for photos was easier said than done. In hindsight, I wish I had taken more photos of him as a teen.

What was the first layout you posted at TLP? Tell us about that layout. Why did you scrap it? What did it mean to you?

My very first layout here at The Pad featured a photo of my son when he was at preschool. They had dressed him up for photo day. That photo remains one of my favorite pictures of him. When I created the layout, I was cognizant of the fact that that little kid in the photo was growing up far too quickly. I was also trying to figure out how it was possible that I was the mother of a teen! When I look back at that page now, it makes me smile. Some things don’t change. His toe still curls up in the same manner, and when he is home, his electric guitar is never too far away!

Why did you join TLP?

I am a storyteller. I landed at The Pad after Sara Gleason offered me a guest spot on her Creative Team. She graciously let me stay, and I have been on Sara’s Creative Team for almost nine years. I discovered the monthly challenges at The Lilypad, and have been hooked ever since.

Has your scrapping style evolved or changed since 2012? Or do you have a signature style you tend to stick to?

Looking back on my first pages in the gallery, it is clear that shadows were not my forte lol! I like to think that my skills have improved since then! The majority of my scrapbooking pages are clean and simple. I have always loved white space, and photo-less pages. I am definitely becoming more adventurous, and my pages these days are fuller. Taking part in MOC and the monthly challenges has encouraged me to try new techniques. Most of my recent pages focus more on my own personal journey, and on nature. I am always so inspired by the wealth of talent we have here at The Pad, and I hope to continue to learn and grow as an artist.

Nothing but love for you! I love your answers.
You are so graceful (is that a word?) and an amazing artist!

@Saar Thank you! What a sweet and kind thing to say. Much love right back at you. You too are an amazing artist, and I am proud to call you friend. :beat

Just wanted to say, your double page spread turned out beautifully! Holy smokes!!!!! At a loss for words.
