As a woman definitely on the other side of middle-age, I can assure you that perfectionism never got me anywhere. It stifles, it stalls, it blocks, it paralyzes. We are here for all you have to offer the community! You are an inspiration and we are lucky to get to play with your artwork!
I was just talking about this with my son’s girlfriend who is studying fine arts. People don’t take our work seriously. She wants to take time each day to paint, but her family think she should be available to help them with all kinds of chores instead. She is not opposed to helping of course, but needs to protect her creative time. As a mom, I feel that way too, but my creative time often gets bumped by the never-ending needs that surround me. Striking a balance as an artist-parent-spouse-child of aging parents… feels impossible at times. I’m glad you were able to voice your need to create. It’s important!
