It may be a little hard to see at web-sized but I have the Milky Way splashed across the parking lot with the information booth partially illuminated (by headlights far far far up the road) and my mom's car. I used to dream of this shot and now I have it
@scrapchyck there's a lot of light pollution here too. The rest of the year, it's mostly lost under the lights of several cities on the horizon, even from the national wildlife refuge. You can't see all these stars with your eyes (sadly). The one and only time I've actually photographed the Milky Way where I could see it by eye first, I cried. (I scrapped a black and white version for MOC last year: https://the-lilypad.com/forum/galleries/first-milky-way.526093/) I highly recommend going somewhere truly dark and enjoying the sky if you can because it's unbelievable magical.
it makes a huge difference when there's a black out! i've (tried) shooting this from our backyard too (with some success after some enhancement but you are so right about how difficult it is and you did a fab job!)
