- JOURNALING: January 10, 2014 – Hi. I’m “Puff”, the official “Kiss & Cry” wall here at the 2014 U.S. National Figure Skating competition in the TD Center, Boston. I’ve seen my share of kisses and tears this past week. Tonight is the short program in Senior Ice Dance. It’s a “given” that Meryl Davis and Charlie White are going to win the gold medal (they’ve been doing that all year) but the second, third, and fourth places are up for grabs. Out on the ice right now are Madison Chock and Evan Bates. They teamed up in 2011 and are looking beautiful tonight – Madison in gold and Evan in a tux with gold accents..... They just took second tonight! Good going!
January 11, 2014 – “Puffs” here again. Chock and Bates are trying to tie up the silver medal tonight. Look at them out there on the ice skating to music from “Les Miserables”, perfect to show their technical and dramatic skating abilities..... With positive GOE’s (grade of execution) for all their planned elements, they will end up eleven points above the third place team and will be one of three teams to represent the United States at the Olympics later this year in Russia. Lots of kissing and crying (joyful tears) so I’ve got to get to work. Remember - “a nose in need deserves Puffs indeed.”
