In the late 1950’s,
a man named
Paul Jesson- my Grandfather,
built a cottage of Red Cedar at the shore
of Lakevue Marina in Lakeside Marblehead,
Ohio. He cut drew up the plans, cut every
board, constructed every fence piece,
a bunkhouse, pavilion, and fish cleaning shed.
all by hand and alone.
Grandma was the decorator, inside & out. She
used colorful cement tiles ( a novelty then),
gazing balls, animal sculptures, bird houses &
bath, pinwheels, a water fountain, and a sundial.
Flowers graced the grounds when in bloom.
Just a few hundred feet from the docks and the
water, this was a magical place for me as a child.
I loved going out on the lake in the Kittyhawk,
and catching fish for Grandpa to clean, and for
Grandma to fry! I cherish those memories.
My parents sold the cottage in 1984. We were sad to
see our Honeymoon place leave the family.
