There are a couple of reasons I scrap. The main one being memory keeping for my boys/family. I love hearing their thoughts and praises when they like a page I made. It makes my heart happy to know that a layout I created has made them smile. Also, there is nothing better than when my oldest comes up to me and starts pointing out what he likes about my scrap layout. Just thinking about it has me smiling huge.
Another reason I scrapbook is it keeps my mind from wondering and it gives me a creative outlet to filter those moments and emotions that overwhelm my brain. It allows me to artistically talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly. Sometimes using words but most offten not. I’m not the best at art journaling but it is my favorite form of scrapping. The elements and brushes, the messiness, the chaos all speak to me. Helping me clear the turmoil within me. Scrapbooking is a stress reliever for me. Well... unless I have to do journaling; which is why I said most often without. Then forget it.
I suck at words, which is why you rarely find journaling on my pages. It is my least favorite thing about scrapbooking. I agonize over what to say, wanting the journaling to be just right. My poor kids. They’ll have all these pages with no words of wisdom, dates or memories jotted down to go with them. Oops.
I also love that scrapbooking challenges me. It teaches me different techniques, styles, photo manipulation. Give me traditional, art journaling, pocket scrapping, etc. The more way I can document life the merrier.
Love the artsy feel to this, with all the stamps, brushes, paint, and layers. And loved reading your journaling. Great page! Thanks for playing along with my challenge!
This is so eye-catching. You have created such wonderful texture with the gesso and layered elements. Love the semi circle title work and creative page design.
