Poor baby! That is such a nasty disease that spreads like wildfire. I know several kids who have had it lately, and it is definitely not fun for anyone in the family. Hope you all are finished with it soon! The color palette you chose complements those photos beautifully, and the layout is a wonderful capture of real-life moments.

@jazzmatazz I don't recall it being so prevalent when I was a kid, but it seems to be a rite of passage these days. Fortunately, he's on the mend now! Thanks so much for your kind comments on the layout.

I don't remember it being this prevalent either. In my youth, it was primarily limited to cattle that I recall (then it was hoof and mouth disease). Wonder why it seems to have increased in humans? Sorry, the microbiologist in me finds it fascinating ...

I’m not really sure why it’s so prevalent now...my understanding is that it’s caused by a series of Enteroviruses which were first isolated in the mid-eighties. Perhaps there was a mutation around that time that allowed it to pass to humans?

@Meredith78 Did a little reseach on the two diseases. The viruses for both are in the same family, hence the similar symptoms, but the primary virus responsible varies. The human disease is primarily in the enterovirus genus, while the animal is Aphthovirus. Apparently it is rare (though not impossible) for the animal form to transmit to humans, so doesn't look like the human version is a mutated form of the animal virus but a unique and different virus with similar symptoms. Sorry if that is information overload. :imok
