April 2019 - Journaling Challenge - Tough Challenge time

Journaling - On Thursday, we found out that Grandpa George had backed out of his driveway and almost hit the neighbor’s house across the street and a parked police car. Luckily, no one was hurt and there was no property damage. Grandpa George was confused and didn’t know who he was. Todd went straight from the BART station to the hospital in Vacaville. It’s been a long frustrating few days. Ben and I went down with Todd yesterday to meet with a specialist to discuss options and toured a memory care facility near the hospital. Today, we went met her again to tour a boarding home and a larger assisted living/memory care place in the same area. We talked with specialists and were given ideas on what to ask the doctors and request from the hospital so we could find the best solution for Grandpa George. I thinking seeing Benjamin helped Grandpa remember himself and push out of the confusion he's been frittering with off and on since the incident. With their help, we were able to get the hospital doctors to send Grandpa George to rehab for the next week or two to give him time to recover some of his mobility and buy us time on what situation is best for George to go to when he's ready to move. It's not over yet but we're feeling better about our options and what decisions were making on George’s behalf. Journaling: April 17, 2019
