How far we have come since 2020... At that time of the year, we were going through a very complicated time for M. At school, he was having crisis after crisis and was no longer able to return to school in the afternoon. His teacher at the time wouldn't even give me the activities and exercises to do at home. It was hard, very, very hard. I had started to take steps so that he could have distance learning with the CNED. I was in the process of putting together the file when a virus came along and turned everyone's life upside down. But I have to admit that it allowed me not to go through with it.
This virus is of course COVID-19 and the lockdown that came right behind it. This time all the children had to be home schooled and the teacher had to send the work by email. M was able to have the activities like everybody else. And little by little we introduced different tools to help him with his school work. The tablet became a mini computer with the addition of a wireless keyboard, a mouse and the installation of a word processor. The school year ended like this and M was much better off, the tantrums were over. In parallel to this period of confinement, I applied for a change of school for the start of the new school year in 2020. This change was accepted. In September 2020, M took his first steps in a new school where he knew no one. The first weeks were difficult as he had to find the rhythm of the school and its rules. The different tools introduced at home were discussed at school and then the tablet turned into a computer. Today, M uses his computer every day at school and is proud of it. I'm proud that he can continue to go to school and I'm happy that the small adjustments made during the lockdown mean that he can now spend a full day at school. You could say that we have come a long way... But together we have managed to move forward and we know that new challenges await us in September with the start of secondary school.

Your page looks beautiful and well balanced with just the two photos and the band of journaling. I like that you placed the title over the text.
The journaling is lovely and personal. It brought tears to my eyes. I know how hard it is to see your child struggle in school. It is important for us as parents/carers to be able to talk to school and discuss how you can help your child feel safe and understood. I am glad your son feels much better now and wish him all the best when he goes to secondary school after summer.

i know the feeling of seeing your child struggle at school, and the tantrums too I am glad it all turned out better now! gorgeous page thank you for sharing the story
