Description:
This is a two-page spread.
JOURNALING: (Page 1) Jim wasn’t feeling well so I went alone to see the Hippodrome’s presentation of the musical “Forever Plaid”. It was a lot of fun. The premise of the play: On their way to their first big concert, a singing quartet of young men – The Plaids – are killed in a car accident. Due to the alignment of space and time, The Plaids are able to return to Earth for one final concert. In between telling the stories of their lives, The Plaids perform some of the greatest hits from the 1950s, including “Catch a Falling Star,” “Heart & Soul”, and “Three Coins in a Fountain”.
The presentation featured Matty Colonna, Nick Endsley, Charles Logan, and James Gish as “The Plaids”. Rounding out the cast were Bryan Mercer on piano and Adam Lishawa playing the guitar (see center photo). Even a couple members of the audience got in the act to the delight of all in attendance.

JOURNALING: (Page 2) PHOTOS: 1. The Plaids – Sparky (Matty Colonna), Smudge (Charles Logan), Jinx (Nick Endsley), and Frankie (James D. Gish) at the end of the show 2. The Plaids all dream of becoming stars. 3. The entire cast. 4. The Plaids – Jinx, Smudge, Sparky, and Frankie. 5. One of the most entertaining moments in the show is a 3-minute, 11-second homage to The Ed Sullivan Show, complete with spinning plates, an accordionist, jugglers, a Viking lady, the Vienna Boys Choir and even Topo Gigio, the adorable talking mouse.
I’m sure some of the references in the dialogue flew over the heads of those in attendance who were born in this century! But most of the audience appeared to be of an age to have grown up listening to the music The Plaids performed so there was a lot of toe tapping, laughter and a standing ovation at the end.

ON POCKETS: “Catch a Falling Star”, “Heart & Soul”, “Three Coins in a Fountain”
