I am always worried when I hear that Jacinda Ardern and Dr Ashley Bloomfield are having a special news conference outside of their usual 1pm COVID update. This time though I had more reason to be worried as it was community transmission yet again in South Auckland....a continued transmission from the 14th of February cases where we had a three day lockdown. This time we were going into a week of level 3. Usually this would make me feel at ease but the fact that people who were infectious were not self isolating and going to work, the gym, tertiary study and socialising when they should have been home just made my blood boil. If I am doing the right thing by isolating when I am not infectious but just at higher risk it made no sense. Luckily the cluster of cases was contained within a couple of weeks but I really wish Jacinda & Ashley had put us into a Level 4 lockdown instead of Level 3 and used the powers of the section 70 act to get the last few non compliant contacts to test and isolate a lot earlier.
