We found out today that our friend John Johnson passed away on December 12. JJ and John go back a long way. They met in 1966 while on the boat traveling to their AFS experience. JJ was an exchange student to Finland while John was off to Sweden. Fast forward a few years and they met up again at the University of Illinois in Champaign. They roomed together for the 2nd half of sophomore year as well as their entire junior year. He was at our wedding in 1974, we attended his wedding to Jennifer in 1976. Over the years we would meet up. But life often gets in the way and we would see each other less and less. The last time we met was in 2009. We ended up talking for hours at a little Chenoa restaurant. JJ grew up in a farm family, was a history major, a former member of the Chenoa police force, a son, a brother, a husband, a dad to Katie & John, a friend.

I'm so sorry you lost your friend, JJ. This is a beautiful photograph of JJ and a wonderful tribute page. It's such a sad time for a death - right here so close to Christmas. It's so special that you included his life and your deep friendship in your DYD. Hugs and lots of love to you and John.
