journalling:
During our visit to Dinosaur Provincial Park, we decided to take the ‘Fossil Safari’ tour. Taking a tour is the only permitted way to enter further into the badlands. And we were so pleased! The guide was great, and one of the first things we learned was how to determine if something is a fossil or not: wet your finger, hold it to your find, and if it sticks then it’s a fossil. And we found SO many! James was so inquisitive, asking him constantly if what he was holding was a fossil or not. The guide said that there are so many in the area that one group can find a super special bone, and another group won’t find it back for months. Ryan found a super cool rare one: a raptor knuckle bone! The guide was so excited!
Rules are, that you cannot dig up, nor take home, any fossil finds. So, the pictures are all we came home with, but these so beautifully capture our time there.
Some of the fossils we saw back at the Tyrell Museum were found in the area here, so that was neat too.
