I love cornbread with chili so I'm sure I would love it with homemade soup. When the weather gets chilly - I usually make a homemade soup 1x a week. I always see recipes for cornbread in a cast iron skillet - need to pick one up! Looks so GOOD! love the vintage doodle!
@jenn mccabe - oh, cornbread is great with chili too. After you have seasoned your new cast iron skillet (check the instructions), when you make cornbread put a tablespoon or more of oil in the skillet and put it in the preheated to temperature oven for 4 or 5 minutes. Then take it out and immediately pour your cornbread mix into the skillet. It will "fry" the bottom just a bit and you will have a wonderful crusty bottom when baked.
Fun page. I like how you picked up on the colors in your photo for the background paper. And your choice of elements is perfect! I love to make soup too! Although I don't make it twice a week, more like twice a month.
@mcurtt - I know you do keto and I've decided that 2019 needs to be a year of low carb for me. What soups do you make? Do you have a Pinterest board where I could see recipes for some of your favorites?
@flowersgal Lots of creamed soups, mushroom or broccoli or celery or cauliflower. Instead of flour for thickeners, I use heavy whipping cream (not whipped). Actually I use heavy whipping cream a lot, pour it in my Bullet Proof Tea (not a fan of coffee), along with coconut oil, a smidgen of red palm oil, xylitol (my preferred sweetener), a bit of collagen powder, a slab of organic butter and the HWC. I enjoy plain old chicken vegetable soup (no noodles & will eat the chicken in it as long as I can't tell that it came from the chicken). I don't have a Pinterest board with my favs, what I like, I copy over & make it a pdf & then upload it to Google Drive & then read it on my tablet. My newest fav is Cauliflower Cheesy Bread, a bit of a pain to make, but worth the effort. It is like pizza, but the bread is made with cauliflower & it holds up very well. If you are interested, I can PM you & share a few there...
