peace - dawn inskip

journaling:
My Mother was a strong woman. She was the oldest of nine brothers and sisters and grew up during the years before WWII. She met and married my Father when she was in her early 20’s. Less than a year after they married my maternal grandparents were killed by a drunk driver. My mother and father, refusing to separate her siblings, moved back to her childhood three-bedroom, one-bathroom home to raise them as their own. They ranged in age from teenager to 7 years old.

My parents worked hard to see them all through school, marriage, and military service as well as starting their own family. My two sisters and I were raised with aunts and uncles more like brothers and sisters. The house was always crowded and filled with laughter and sometime squabbles. I never thought it was strange to have uncle and aunts living with us…it was just how it was.
Gorgeous page - love the photo o your mom and your journaling. It must have been hard for your parents but great that they did that.

Oh Judy, I absolutely love this.. Love this wonderful photo of your Mom and how wonderful that your Father would want to take care of your Mother's siblings as if they were his own. What a wonderful story (sorry about your grandparents) but thank you for sharing this beautiful story of your Mom and Dad. So sweet and scrapped so well!

What a stunning page with the perfect sprinkling of accents. You have wonderful, heartfelt memory keeping here about your blended family. Thanks for taking part in the heritage challenge.
