The myth that once you have a ‘piece of paper’ finding a job will be easy but its been tough, frustrating, depressing, demoralising over the last 2 years. I know at times all you’ve wanted to do is scream “give me a **** job, I can do the work, just give me a **** chance”. Family and friends have tried to support you as much as possible but only you know the real journey you’ve been on and the emotional toll it takes on you with every shortlisting for an interview or rejection. Please believe its not for lack of trying, remember you are doing all you can, in the last year alone you have applied to over 80 jobs in both Auckland and Hamilton, had 20 or so interviews, been to see Russell and Andrew from Careers Centre at uni and Sarah & Jake at Be Accessible, changed your cv and cover letter for every job, asked for feedback when you can but now you’re really at the point of you’ve done what you can and its just a matter of keeping going and something will happen eventually. You just need to not let the feedback you often get if you aren’t successful upset you or put you off what you truly believe you can do and want to do and believe that positive change will happen and you will get a job in the sector that you love if you keep persevering.
