Journaling: I love history, not exactly the kind you find in the history books tho. It’s the one where people lived the everyday life. The dishes they ate off, the keys they used lock away prized possessions, or the stitches they created in the tiniest doll clothes.
When I unearth artifacts it’s like I have been given a present from across the span of time itself.
In the 1830’s Kentucky house, where we lived for 12 years, we found boxes and boxes worth of old marbles, china, blueware, creamware, churns, silverware, shoes, dress pieces, rope bed remnants, key in the yard that worked in the house, buttons - oh so many buttons - and so much more!
Here in the Virginia house we have only been here a year, and the main area we have dug is for the garden. We have found lots of sherds, glass, and some objects like the utensil and carriage label we found recently in the garden.
Funny note about the carriage label - it was from the Liberty Buggy Co, Owensborough Kentucky!
Wow another amazing page.. your farm is filled with history and I am enjoying seeing the photos and reading the stories. TFS and playing along with the Summer Camp challenges!
Wow! You've found some really cool items digging in your yards! I love that carriage label... so cool! Makes me want to do a rubbing of it! I love all the blue and white papers and elements you've used to draw the blue from your photos! Fabulous journaling and memory keeping here!
Thank you @StefanieS , @cfile , @Karen , @elseepe ! Sometimes the artifacts I find do end up as elements in my kits hehe. I appreciate all your thoughtful comments!
