Description:
Created for Rachel Jefferies Mixed Media Challenge at TLP July 2025

I was inspired by the prompt Current Coordinates – Where are you right now in life? Represent it visually with symbols, maps, or abstract marks.

My compass is upside down because I'm not on a typical life-orientation! The two plus sign paper pieces represent two people I can't control. The scatter reminds me of how crazy and lovely DNA mixing can be. And the little heart flair is the "what could've been" (or maybe will be one day), but it's in a frame or a box that I don't have access to.

CREDITS: Rachel Jefferies' This is Everything (background); Rachel Jefferies' Foundation (solid background-blended, heart flair, striped paper piece, scalloped paper piece, flower); Rachel Jefferies' Sea Spray (paper piece-blended); Rachel Jefferies' Unspoken (paint, paper pieces); EH Studios' Sentimental Sort (mask); Rachel Jefferies' BYOC April 2021 Money Saving Bundle (messy marks, dotted marks, word strips-recolored); Rachel Jefferies' Better Together (frame); Rachel Jefferies' Lillipution (banner); Rachel Jefferies' I'm Ready (word strip-recolored); Rachel Jefferies' Lived In (title); Rachel Jefferies' My Love Story (scatter); Rachel Jefferies' On Foot (compass); Font-TSWebchyck; silhouette image generated in Firefly

Beautiful layout with a heartfelt message. I enjoyed reading what each element represented for you. May you find comfort and solace in your scrappy art-therapy! It’s a good way to express yourself and release those emotions. :heartlub

@Lynne-Marie I do enjoy a good art therapy session! Especially when it's over something that's been on my mind a lot. Thanks for taking a peek and for your encouraging words.

Awwww, this is so beautiful and moving. I'm sorry you didn't get to experience that. I think it's great that you're able to dissect your feelings surrounding it and that you probably also realize there are a lot of benefits to your life and/or you can make those kinds of relationships outside of the 'normal' family walls. And you never know what might happen. The boys may not have prospects today, but life turns so quickly sometimes. Regardless, this is a gorgeous page and I love the symbols you used and all of the amazing things you found from so many different kits. Was the gridline over the silhouette from Firefly? I love it.

@scrapsandsass I have had the privilege of being a surrogate grandma over the years, so it's not lost on me what blessings I've had, for sure! And you're right...surprises happen all the time. The grid over the photo was a piece of Rachel's ephemera from Sea Spray that I blended. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your encouraging words.

@scrapchyck Oh yay... I'm glad you have gotten to have that experience. I know, for me, being a gran has been the best because I didn't have a chance to get a lot of good times when my daughter was little. Thank you for telling me about the grid piece! I feel silly. Every time I think I know all of Rachel's amazing products, I find out a new one that I hadn't seen before. Thank you thank you.
