As I was driving through a shopping center parking lot one day, I stopped to let a mother and child cross in front of me. I didn’t know them; they didn’t know me, but I felt an instant connection to them. As I watched them walking hand in hand I thought, “I can’t wait for that to be me!” I don’t remember if I had kids at the time or not (my guess is that I was pregnant or had one baby) but that moment still stands out to me to this day. I am so thankful for the opportunity I’ve had to have children. My kids are almost too old to hold hands with me now, but my youngest is still okay with it sometimes so I’ll continue to enjoy it as long as I possibly can.
