Rainbow Ring

Description
Journaling Reads:

It sounds silly thinking back but I guess I had this preconceived notion that color was synonomous with youth and immaturity. Like when you grow up it’s time to have house and wardrobe like you’d see in Better Homes and Gardens or those Home makeover shows.... neutrals with maybe a pop of color here and there. A palette not to offend anyone but slightly appeal to everyone. “Toast” as Nathan and I would call it now, thanks to one of my favorite movies (My Big Fat Greek Wedding!) Dry, boring and hard to swallaw.
On one particular day a few years ago, I was reminiscing on a conversation I had in college with an old friend. She was visiting my very colorful apartment and commented on a piece of decor I had just made and hung. She has said that she liked it and I said something to the effect of “Yeah, I have to get my color in now because pretty soon I have to grow up.” She simply looked at me and asked “Why?”.
Yeah...... why? Why did it take me so long to realize that loving color and surrounding myself in it doesn’t make me any less professional or immature. It just brings me joy and without it I’ve only been depriving myself of happiness and being disloyal to my true self!
That’s the background story to how my diamond wedding ring turned into a rainbow ring. I changed my thought process, my house and clothing but not the one thing I wear every single day. I told myself it was such a waste of money to have bought a boring diamond when I don’t even like diamonds. They don’t have an ounce of color to them! We just did the “normal thing” like everyone else. What would I do now if I could start all over again? I’d have a rainbow of color! So that’s just what I did. I designed and commissioned this rainbow ring using my engagement diamond as the center stone because it’d become more of a sentimental thing now. Purple and pink are my favorite colors so I featured those prominently on the sides of the diamond and followed those by more colors that bring a smile to my face. I had the diamonds in my wedding band turned into earrings to gift to the girls one day when they’re older and a little more mature. It’s not an artistic masterpiece but it’s me and I LOVE it! Every time I look at it it’s a happy little reminder that it’s 100% okay to be myself, whenever and wherever I am in life!

Oh my gosh, what a great story, and a beautiful page to go along with it!! I think a 100% authentic, brightly colored you is exactly who you should be! Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful page and wonderful journaling. So glad you had that "a-ha" moment and designed your rainbow ring. It is lovely and so unique.

I love the rainbow! It totally pulled me in to read your story. The butterflies are gorgeous too! The ring is perfect. I love the story of it's creation and how it's uniquely yours! Also, as a sapphire wedding ring wearer, I adore seeing people go non-diamond with their rings and be unique.
