Journaling:
It's not the memories. I forget a lot. And sometimes I feel the need to forget. It's not the photos. I forget to take photos, and when I do, I'm too lazy to organize them. It's not the printed page or album. I never print. I scrap because I love being creative, and at a certain point of my life, when my baby was born, that was all I could do with my time. When she was a few months old, I could stay up a little more while she was sleeping at night, and I needed to do something creative. I couldn't use my craft supplies: I couldn't have dirty hands, with colors or glue, when it was possible at any time that she would wake up crying. And this is when digiscrapping became my main hobby. I could scrap while she was sleeping. And when she did cry, I was just a CTRL-S away from her. No dirty hands, no mess, no threads or scraps of fabric on my clothes. My first pages sucked of course. I had a basic PS knowledge but that was all about it. But I gave it a try. I followed tutorials, did challenges, did my first MOC in 2017. I can now say that I am a good scrapper. Not the best that's ever been, but a good one. I've joined several creative teams, and scrapped like crazy. My record is 1,018 pages in 2018! Ever since I've made pages with precious memories; I've made pages just for a challenge; I've made pages with stock photos, because the kit called for a certain photo that I didn't have. I've made pages that I love; I've made pages that I don't even remember or recognize. Each and every designer for whom I CT has taught me something. One of the most important things is to use digiscap supplies and make art. It was a video about intuitive painting that opened up a whole new world for me. It was a revelation! Until then, I was a "layerist". After that, I became a little more creative. I started playing with brushes and styles, and making doodles and scribbles and things that I had never imagined I was capable of. And, again, no mess, no dirty hands, just fun! On same pages people comment and say that I need to print and hang them. I just think that I'm happy I made them and got them out of me (makes sense?). I don't feel the need to print or even to look back. I just enjoy the process. But of course I keep all my layered pages, because I'm a hoarder, I mean a collector.
