Journaling~
This was definitely not the way I had hoped to be spending our vacation.
Day two I felt something shift in my neck, and then the debilitating pain
started. The last time this happened (in Helen) the worst of my pain
was while sitting in the car, but luckily this time it was while standing.
It made hiking almost impossible, but the travel by car was still doable,
which was definitely a gift. I constantly had to hold my hand on my
neck or shoulder, and all the time in the car was spent on the peanut ball,
with my head in a specific position. I could not hike our favorite trail,
and when we got to Mount Rainier the pain was the most intense.
of the whole trip. I had such immense pressure and burning/tingling
in my head that I honestly wondered if I should be at a hospital.
The research I did online said it was occipital neuralgia. It was truly
some of the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life, and I had to
endure it for the entire eleven day trip, as well as after we got home.
