OMG - I had a red potholder loom as well!!! Your story could have been written by me! Thanks for the memories. In fact I, too, have two potholders that I made!!
I can outdo my sister (Pups). I have EIGHT of those potholders, not counting the one I currently use next to my stove! They ARE the best! We don't remember what happened to our original metal "loom", but we found a plastic one some years ago - and it was HORRIBLE! It would bend when you got those loops on the thing and they would sort of "fly" off. We did find a metal frame and that's how I got my stash of 8! Great memories.
My daughter had one but plastic. I think we went through 2 of them because they are so flimsy. I wish I had seen a metal one! We still have tons of the ones she did for us. We finally gave the kit away last year, in hopes that some new kid would enjoy it.
I remember those! I had one too. But I honestly didn't create any artsy patterns with mine. I'm sure I was limited by the color palette of my bands. And mine was a red metal one too. I have picked up a few of these woven potholders at craft sales. Now I know why. Memories.
I had one of those metal looms back in my childhood but never had any interest in it. Now I have soapstone counters so 'straight from the oven' can go on them and all my tables have polyurethaning. Great story @flowersgal and I do like that black and white design a lot.
