Description
My father worked on the space program - IBM made the instrumentation unit, the thin black ring at the top of the rocket. He was at the Cape for all the launches, but this one was special.

This was SO hard for me. I never could figure out how to do some of it so I improvised. Here is the original picture for comparison. I put Gesso and paint strokes on the smoke from liftoff, then applied the Divide blend mode.

From The challenge kit by NBK – one background paper, Paint strokes 1 & 4, and Gesso Paints 6, 7, 8, 9. I placed the paints on the smoke from liftoff, applied Divide blending mode to some, others I adjusted opacity. I applied craquelure texturizer to the photo itself.
Background is a paper recolored from Amy Wolff Mega Solids Vol. 5

I love how you used the smoke in the picture to your advantage and added the gesso there. That texture adds to much to the power of this magnificent aircraft!!!
