The movie theater in Wapakoneta was opened in 1904. In the early days it was known as the Brown Theater. In the 1930's it became known as the Brown Opera House. It also became the home of movies at that time. In 1941 it was renamed "Wapa Theatre". It has been through many ups and downs through the years. When the big multiplex cinemas opened in Lima, the people in town headed there to see first run movies since it took some time before they were shown here. At one point, it did close down but has since reopened. First run movies are shown within weeks instead of months now. Tickets are $6 per person! There are showings nightly at 7 p.m. except for Mondays. Saturday and Sunday also have matinee showings at 1:30 p.m. It seats 690 people! In 2018, it held a premiere of the movie "First Man" the night before the movie premiered nationally.
