We moved to Valdez, Alaska in 1975, at the beginning of the building of the Trans Alaska Pipeline.. My husband was a truck driver and hauled goods up and down the pipeline from Valdez, to Prudhoe Bay... The lower end of the pipeline is across the bay from the town of Valdez... When we lived there, we called it Terminal Camp. It has grown in size over the years, and of course is still there... this is where the tankers come to load the oil for refining in the lower 48. Prince William Sound is the farthest north ice free port, which is why the southern end of the pipeline was built there. We left Valdez in 1981. Have only been back 3 times.. the last time was May of 2017. These photos were taken at the end of the road leading to Terminal Camp... As far as we could go.... 20 years ago, my oldest son and I returned , and got to actually tour the whole site...
