Description:
When Dick bikes up near Brunswick MD as he did last week, he usually goes across the Potomac River on this ferry. It’s been running since 1786. At one time there used to be 100 ferries crossing the river at various points but now it’s only this one family owned business. Dick and I sometimes go to see his cousin on the VA side & we take this ferry which I enjoy. Such wonderful scenery and I love that he captured the river mist this day.

I loved reading your journaling as I grew up in a small town on the Tennessee River and the only way to get across (without a more than 1 hour drive around) was on a ferry. Many, many years later a bridge was built upriver and the ferry closed. So glad to hear there are still some of these historic conveyances operating. Nice photo and lovely layout.
