Description:
Iain had just switched to an independent restaurant from years working at hotel chains. It was a small restaurant even within walking distance of his home. It was a big move but it seemed the right time in early 2020. Little did he, or anyone, know that the world was changing in a profound and devastating way. Very very soon after he started at Article 24, the restaurant had to close and Iain was furloughed. With his marriage also ending, he lost nearly every part of his life. Even knowing he was better off than so many it was a lot to deal with. He made the decision to get off social media which was a loss to me as I always looked forward to his instagram posts for the restaurant or hotel where he worked. He is at heart a real chef who loves to cook, to feed people with loving nourishment. It also gave him the creative outlet he needed. While he went back to playing the guitar and writing music, there was no audience to get that feedback most creative people cherish. When he called last week to tell me the restaurant was opening again, I had tears for him, knowing he was so blessed to have a job to go back and the security of a boss who also owned the building. Seeing the first Instagram photo of ‘his’ kitchen today made my heart sing !!!

What lovely journaling of decisions, uncertainty and relief. So glad for him that he is able to go back to what he loves. I like the clock face here that reminds of us time passing and the touches of pink that give a bit of cheer. Well done, Maureen.
