Ah GIFTS! In addition to getting new handmade or crocheted outfits for my doll Rosebud, I was thrilled to get a pet as a GIFT - a turquoise parakeet I named Mr. Pembrook. Where did the English name come from? I suspect I may have read ‘ The Secret Garden’ around this time, little knowing that I too would someday live in Yorkshire. The teddy bear I think was a GIFT from Daddy as he often got me presents that were not quite age appropriate. I was a ‘big girl’ by this time though I still loved my one doll. I also loved this taffeta dress that my mother made for me. It had a forest green skirt that swished as I walked with my crinoline underneath. Oh I felt so stylish!
What a beautiful page...all about the photo and the memory. So crisp and clean, & yet so striking. Your shadows are perfect, and I love that quote (I’ve used it myself!).
So beautiful Maureen and I adored your journaling. I loved the Christmas' from our youth. I loved my dolls too and the tree decor and wonderful presents back then.. fond memories. I love your composition here.. beautiful page Maureen! TFS!
What great journaling and cute b&w photo. I like the simplicity of your layout keeping the focus on the memories. I might have to "borrow" your idea and go back into my oldest photos although at this stage I doubt that my memory is as clear as yours.
