We recently moved into a space with much less storage room. We've been weeding things out. Now I'm looking at this big tote filled with "mementos" including high school yearbooks of mine and my husbands.

I want to get rid of them all. He even has some from middle school. Maybe keep the senior year? I don't even know if I want to waste space on that. And I don't think they are worth getting scanned.

Anyone regret getting rid of old year books?

I still have my high school ones. My friend and I have had a hoot going through them and reminiscing, plus my son has had a good laugh. I think it's fun to keep around, but I only have the four from high school.

I can't find any of my high school yearbooks; my husband has all of his, and we went to the same school and graduated in the same class, so I can still look at them, if I want to. (I never have though.)

It might be fun to dig them out in a few years (more than a few lol) when my kids are graduating from high school themselves, but I think if I didn't have them (and technically, I don't) I wouldn't miss them.

I have all of mine and the ones of the kids on my bookshelf. I can say I've probably only looked at mine 2 or 3 times in all these years.

I have mine from elementary school all the way up to high school. The kids have a big laugh going through them and seeing all the goofy '80s hair styles.

In italy we don't have this tradition, sadly. Maybe in some private school, but most of people go to the public school or to the catholic ones - and there are no year books there.
I think it would be fun for the next generation looking back to the old year books!

I have high school.... I think my other ones are at my mothers, lol! My kids love to see all the older pics, and crack up!

I've never intentionally gotten rid of mine, but I have no idea where they are, and I don't think about them. I have a lot of pictures from the same time period, so my kids will still be able to laugh at the hairstyles and such. I think if I found them, I'd probably scan the pages I'm on, and maybe some of the funnier things my friends wrote in them, and then toss.

I say keep them. I have all of mine and even now that both my parents are gone, I still have theirs... it is family history.

I have all of mine... from 3rd grade through my Senior year. It's fun to go back and look through them, but what's better for me is to go through and read all the things that were written in my yearbooks from my friends.

We only had them in High school. Unfortunately mine all succumbed to Brisbane's humidity and poor storage so I don't have any. Our high school was relatively small (less than 500) and we all knew everyone else pretty well so I regret not looking after them better.

I would love the one I helped work on though, that was good fun and had some interesting memories attached to it - it was about the only committee I was on in senior school...

I can't imagine getting rid of them. It seems like throwing out a scrapbook. I have all mine from high school. I don't think I have any from grade school, but I would love to see them now.

i still have all of mine (middle school and high school) and i love them! i remember looking through my parents' yearbooks when i was growing up and being fascinated by them. they were also high school sweet hearts, so it was cute to read the notes they had written to each other when they were younger.

I wouldn't be able to get rid of them. I have hoarder tendencies though. I saw hubby pull one out last week. A classmate had passed away & he was trying to place the face. We went to the same high school. I think we only have my set.

Thanks, everyone, for chiming in! Maybe I will just keep the senior year, or maybe I will try scanning pages that I was on - although that is probably very few.

I guess it is one of those things that when you happen to look back at them, you enjoy having them. But if you don't have them, you don't really feel too bad about it.

i only have my senior yearbook. honestly, i never really look at it.

but my dad graduated with bruce springsteen and still has his so kind of cool that he kept his. my husband graduated with former lead guitarist for ozzy, zakk wylde (but doesn't have that yearbook). you never know ...

such a good point. i love looking through other people's ... especially my parents ... i would say keep it for that reason for your kids to see you when you were that age!

I have mine! I still like to look at it and read things people wrote! I even have one from 8th grade which is just a bunch of bad photo copies of photos and dot matrix printouts!!!
