It's National Yo-yo Day! I remember having several back in the day...plain ones, light up ones, all different colors.

I used to be pretty good at it and even knew a few tricks, but not so much today. All the kids and their spouses got yo-yos in their Christmas stockings this year and it made for a lot of fun on Christmas Day. There were yo-yos flying everywhere :giggle

Do you know how to yo-yo? Can you do any cool tricks?

I can remember my brother having YoYos and I did have a try using them. I used to be able to the "walking the dog" trick but I doubt I could do it now.

Yep, had one. About all I could do is up and down a couple of times. No tricks at all. And, these days.... nope, not going there.

DH has some 'old' coca-cola yo-yo's (they're sitting on the washing machine at the moment), as i've been decluttering and turfing things, DH's parents have been sending home things with him and the kids as they declutter :duh - the kids went thru a phase of yo-yoing back in maybe year 3 or 4 and it sounds bad to say but having to wind the string back up for them all the time, took all the joy out of them for me - these days the thing that i associate yo-yo's with most are weight fluctuations :carryon

Oh, of course, I had all the cool ones. LOL My dad was the yo yo king! He used to amaze us with his talents when we were kids. He had a bunch of tricks, which I can't remember except "walking the dog".

Yep, had yo-yo's as a kid, but wasn't good with them. I preferred the "tops" ... you wound the string around the top of the tops, pulled it and the toy went spinning across the floor.

I can make a yoyo go up and down a few times, that's it. lol! DH can do a trick or two I think... elevator - where the oyo rides up or down the string again.... and that walking the dog everyone said.

I was really good in primary school - had an orange Fanta one.
I know I could walk the dog too. Not at all sure that I still have the knack now.

I remember nothing specific about yo-yos from childhood, though I'm pretty sure I had one at some time because they were not unfamiliar to me when I got them a time or two for my kids. My husband and middle child are the only ones in my family that have shown any yo-yo skill, if I remember correctly.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

My mom was so upset with me! Did I mention that was a "family" yo-yo and we shared it between the kids? The story of my siblings is that they didn't get to learn to use a yo-yo because I was an enraged kid (that only came out when the yo-yo came out).

Yes, when I was in elementary school. I had my dad's old wooden yo-yo (and I still do!). He taught me all the tricks he new, but I've completely forgotten how to do any of them! I sure did love my yo-yo, it was a clear emerald green.

Oops ... bet your siblings were a bit irked at you.
