Tis the season to be wrapping! I spent the evening last night wrapping some presents that I need to send out of state and wish I would have seen this video before I started.

Pretty cool, huh! I'd love to be able to wrap that quickly and beautifully. Although, I'm not sure if I can figure it out. I do a pretty good job wrapping the old fashioned way, so I'm the designated family wrapper at my house. I learned years ago by watching a department store employee when I was young. My mom hated wrapping presents, so she would have me wrap all the gifts for her.

I think I'll give this a try on some of the gifts that I still need to wrap. Who knows, I may figure it out and then I'll have my wrapping done in no time at all and have more time for scrappin and relaxin... hehe!

Are you the designated wrapper at your house? Or do you just pay for gift wrapping at the store? Do you have any gift wrapping tips or tricks? If so, please share.

I have vowed to wrap as they arrive (thank you Amazon Prime). I don't wanna do the marathon wrapping on Christmas Eve.
I put numbers(I have a list of numbers and names) on the boxes, not names...cause the boys will just stare at the box, until they figure out what is in it. I do use different size boxes and all, but the numbers help me not go insane.
I just wrap and put a bow (sticker kind) on it.

That hack would be nice for smaller boxes. I'm tempted to wrap something to find out lol!

I worked retail and we offered free gift wrapping...but since it was free, they wanted us to wrap FAST. (Probably like that video, lol! :) ) If you fold the two longest sides and tape were they overlap tightly, then it's easy to use your three middle fingers to press the paper in, smooth the "top" (which is actually the bottom of the package) down using your thumb, and then bring the up the last bit of paper and tape. Repeat on the other side. My boss' boss could do it in 10 to 15 seconds (not counting ripping the paper off the roll, which had a measuring guide for different box sizes). I do the marathon wrapping because I just make a hot cocoa, lock myself in my room, and turn the TV to a mindless show. For me, it's a nice way to relax.

@AnneofAlamo and @Tree City - I've done a different wrapping paper for each kid like your numbering system, so they wouldn't know which gifts were theirs. I always have good intentions of wrapping them as they come in, but then I lose track of how many I have for each kid, so I end up doing a marathon wrapping the last days before school gets out for winter break so I can make sure I have the same number of gifts for each to open. That was really important when they were young. However, since they're all older now, I may just toss the same number of gifts idea out the window and just wrap as I go. The older kids' things cost more anyway, so they should just be happy with what they get. I'm so over trying to make it look fair, when we all know I just need to keep it simple or I'll lose my mind! :madness

Amen to that! And what the kids need to know is, if Mom loses her mind, then NO ONE gets a single present...so it's in the kids' best interest not to complain lol!

I don't know how fast we are, but this is our 5th year wrapping gifts as a fundraiser for Girl Scouts. We had training yesterday and my daughter taught them how to make a bag for those awkward gifts. I taught how to wrap awkward gifts like yoga mats (tootsie roll), basketballs (bag), teddy bears (bag), skillets, trays in the shape of NC, and round tins.

I put the wrapping supplies in my bedroom and wrap as I can. Hubby usually gets the daughter to wrap the gifts from him.

I really need to wrap as I get...I have wrapping anxiety and if things don't come out just right I start all over! I love using double sided tape so you can't see it!

Many moons ago I worked at Bed Bath and Beyond and part of my responsibilities was to wrap the gifts, and they had a certain way they needed to be done...not sure if that's the case anymore, but that's where my anxiety comes from when it comes to gift wrap LOL

I wrap all our gifts ( of course not the one my husband gives to me ). I am not good at it but may try the way shown in the video for any of the box shaped gifts.
When I do my gift wrapping I like to play Christmas music as I do it.

I do all the wrapping except for anything that is for me obviously. :giggle
I am usually over wrapping pretty quickly and will resort to gift bags. I usually do gift bags for people outside of my house that way the kids aren't tempted to peek. Little stinkers!

I really need to start wrapping! I haven't even gotten paper or tape! I have 2 huge ooxes full of stuff in my office and stuff in the closet and stuff still coming. I'm hoping this coming weekend will be my time! I really don't like wrapping much :giggle. I used to do a lot of wrapping for my mom...even my own gifts (and I never once peeked). I think she burned me out on it haha.

Wrapping is something I procrastinate about doing every year. By the time I drag stuff out of various hidey places & all the gear to wrap with (paper tape ribbons etc) it's the re-hiding I hate but the one year I left it all to Xmas Eve I will never forget - soooo hot & humid in a locked room but I can't bring myself to use gift bags etc so I know I bring this on myself!

so cute Anne.. my Mom would code the presents when we were kids instead of names to make the opening of the gifts last... We would have to "crack the code" first... I will never forget when I thought the coded flower on the tag I thought was mine and my Mm said are you sure, and I was like "Oh Yes, I know this is for me" (My BD was September and thought since it was the end of summer flowers stilll bloomed so it was mine).. ummm Nope.. LOL it was a Man's Dress Shirt and was Dad's as his Birthday was in May and it was "May Flowers"... Oh gosh we all laughed so hard.. I made sure from then on I was absolutely correct! - My brother still at almost 61 still loves the codes and still does it at his house.. :)

Nobody in our house really wants to wrap the presents so both my hubby and I wait and wait hoping the other one will just do it. Then we end up having my sister come into town on Christmas Eve and have to ditch out to go wrap our gifts. It's so silly. Almost everything arrives in a nice square box from Amazon and wouldn't take very long if I'd just wrap them as they come. Maybe this will be the year that I'll get ahead of the game. :giggle

I love to wrap! When our children were younger 'Santa' only brought them 3 gifts each. Most years each child had their own wrapping paper, which made it easier for me. Ho Ho Ho!

That is so clever! Did she have an answer key to remind her what the codes were? I'm sure I'd forget. But I could keep a list in my phone notepad. I'm thinking about doing this.

I have just been assigning my kids wrapping paper, but when I started putting the presents under the tree before Christmas, they managed to guess whose paper is whose! Maybe I'll just mix it all up this year with a variety of paper and stick coded riddles on each package. I think they'd enjoy that. Thanks for the idea!

You are so welcome! Yes Mom had a key written down Each year she would change it :) As we got older if the names were on the package the unwrapping went to fast and there were less things under the tree as things were more expensive. Of course once we were in our teens - age 15 etc, it went back to names as we knew enough to take our time :) Enjoy Christmas with your family Michele!
