As some may know I work in a busy hotel within 1 mile from Universal Studios here in Orlando. Well, of course there are plenty of weird stories I can tell but I am wondering daily about people and their minds....or maybe more of how their minds are not functioning properly. :giggle
Last week we had a woman here with her family saying she was promised a free night according to the 100% satisfaction guaranteed because they had stayed in October and my manager had promised they would take care of them when they came back. Yeah if they promise that they also give you a certificate so you actually have paper work to prove that. So this was a scam. How do you even walk into a hotel with your family and do this!? Great example for the kids Mom!! This evening there was another example of a woman with 4 kids wanting a free stay because she was thrown out of her house. If it is true I feel bad for her but how are you going to call businesses for that? You have the Red Cross etc. or local churches but hotels will not give you free nights! And then, on the other hand, we have people who will call all night just because their thermostat says 67F and they want it at 65F and are throwing a fit because it won't go down. :whoopdedoo Yeah never a dull moment! :giggle

Oh my! I can imagine how difficult it must be to be in the service business and have to deal with crazies while keep a smile on your face. I see that only from the customer side, but I don't think I'm that crazy of a customer lol

Oh, hotels! I'm so glad I'm not working at one anymore. It was worse than serving in restaurants, because the same people are there most of your shift! As opposed to being gone in about an hour - 90 minutes.

One of my favorite hotel stories was the guy who couldn't afford a room, so he left. Then came back and was "waiting for someone" while he dozed on the lobby couch.

I feel your pain. People are weird when it comes to hotels.

They're weird when it doesn't come to hotels too. ;) I have stories from every job I've had that involved other people. Dry cleaning, teaching, tech support, sales, you name it - people are weird about it. :giggle

First, I would not let my bf throw me out of the house lol. I would tell him to sleep in the garden if he doesn´t want to see me. ;-)
And you are right. A hotel can help maybe, but not for free. I also can´t go to the super market and tell them I want an apple for free because my better half ate all the apples at home.
I worked in a hotel for one day and I must say that´s nothing for me. ;-) I´m better "behind the scenes".
What did the woman and her kids do then?

Oh dear! People seriously are crazy! I'm pretty sure I would get fired within a week if I had to deal with people like that all day long! :)

Petra,
Don't get me started at how people think... I think the problem is that "they DON'T think" specially before opening their mouths! LOL!!!

Wow! It's amazing what people try to get away with! I do feel bad if they are dealing with problems, but there are other resources. Showing up at Universal is pretty bold!
