I think I want to live in luxury, lol. And I pick Italy.

Definitely one country. I love to travel but I'm done after about 10 days. I agree that Italy would be amazing. Or if really luxury, maybe the UK -- specifically London -- because I love that city and feel like I could spend a year exploring that.

I think I would choose one place, but less because of the budget and more because of the experience. My preference is immersion and really getting to know a culture and its people rather than doing the tourist highlights and just passing through.

Hmmm. Tough. If someone would plan the itinerary for me (making sure things are relatively safe and clean) I think I would pick shoestring. I just wouldn't want to do all the planning. I'm following a family on Instagram right now that is traveling the world for 1 year on a shoestring...looks pretty amazing.

I'm not much for travelling. At least not outside of Sweden. So.... staying in on country is fine with me. I've been doing it on a shoestring my entire life, wouldn't mind some luxury. :giggle

Definitely live in luxury at my age and I’ve never been to Greece, so that would be my destination.

I'd definitely take the luxury and I'd probably choose Greece or somewhere tropical :)

I'll take luxury, but my hubby will have to pick the destination. He always wants to travel and I'm happy at home, so if he picked the destination we could both have a little of what we like. :agree

It would be really cool to set foot on every continent. And I have not traveled south of the equator. So, shoestring for me. Just need clean showers, safe food and water, and a camera.

I'd take luxury. I couldn't leave my fur babies for a year and i could take them with us if we stayed for a year. I'd probably choose Australia or New Zealand. My dh is great with computer languages but not foreign languages. Otherwise I'd choose Japan and learn the language.

Although maybe choosing Italy would be better then I could easily make excursions to other EU countries while living in Italy for a year.

I've been watching my friend Britt (Britt-ish Designs/Traveling Light Family on instagram) travel around Europe the past year or so. So seeing what they're doing, mostly house-sits and such, I think I'd say travel the world on a shoestring budget. There's so much to see and at my age not enough time to see everything I'd like to.

Oh this is a really tough one! But, I think I would take the year of traveling. As long as I had enough food to eat and a charger for my phone to take pictures that would be super cool!

Hubby and I did travel around the world for a year on a shoestring just after we got married. It was the trip of a lifetime and I have always felt so very lucky that we were able to take that time before we had kids. Now, at 66, I would choose a little more luxury - no tents or hostels, but they were a great way to meet other travellers and get tips on places to visit (pre internet times).
